Big Sur Restaurant in San Simeon

Food was tasty but it was a bit pricy for the food we ordered.

We had breakfast here 3/5/19. The food was excellent. Service was top notch. Friendly staff. My husband and I especially liked the salsa they make in house. We will definitely dine here again in the future.

Fast and friendly service we came here for breakfast with a group. Everyone got what they ordered hot and fresh. They were even able to accommodate my protein oatmeal bowl, which was very much appreciated! staying at the Motel 6 you can get a 12% discount here so definitely worth it!

We stayed at a nearby motel and ate breakfast here three days in a row. Omelettes were great. My wife liked the vegetarian eggs Benedict in particular. Pancakes we're light and fluffy. Fast service and pleasant people. Highly recommend.

The place is comfortable and cozy, the food was really good! The fries were a little too crunchy for me but my girlfriend liked them so it must be personal preference. The workers are very nice and the food didn't take long to arrive. Strongly recommend!

Perfect breakfast place. Service was excellent as was the food. Exactly what we expected from a diner style establishment. We loved it so much, 1/2 of our table ordered a second breakfast. This does not mean the portions were small because they were not. Price was reasonable for the area.

This place is right next door to where we stayed at and the food is actually good. We ordered appetizers.

Place is clean. Service is great! Got pancakes and sausage, was delicious and came out fast. OJ is fresh squeezed. Great place to get a quick bite before Hearst Castle.

Amazing people, delicious food. But most of all they make you fell like home. We came here twice for breakfast and dinner. My lil one enjoy this restaurant and the lady's here are amazing. If I could give 10 🌟 I would give it to them. Thank you for making us feel like home

We were given a discount coupon from our hotel concierges across the street so we stopped by for a quick breakfast on our way to Hearst Castle. It was delicious. Large portions so the hubs and I shared the pancakes 🥞 and bacon 🥓 and 🍳. This place has some of the most delicious burgers in the Central coast! The service is absolutely amazing and the food is bomb.

Great food, extremely fast service. Nice view of the highway and the ocean in the distance if you sit in the front. Hot chocolate is delicious and in a large cup.

Good food but quite expensive

Over priced and under cooked! My boyfriend and I dined in on Memorial Day. It was a late dinner around 8pm so the restaurant was not very busy. We were told to find our own seats and weren’t greeted for another 10 minutes. We ordered an appetizer but it didn’t come out until our entrees were ready, which took 30 minutes at least. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The noodles undercooked and hard. My boyfriend ordered the tri-tip for $21... it came with four small slices of meat and a scoop of mashed potatoes and veggies. I ended up sending my meal back and going to my hotel room hungry. I will never eat at this place again.

Excellent food and service.

It's diner food, with a lot of choices. Some items are pricey, but thats what makes this place great for a diner. You have a mix of affordable diner food, with a mix of steak & seafood for dinner.I'm definitely going to return to this diner. I was there for breakfast and lunch. Their kids menu was definitely affordable for being a tourist destination. It was $7 or $8 for the childrens meal, and that included a drink. And the kids had a great time there.

They offer a vast range of fresh food. I like eating here. Staff members are always welcoming, pricing is affordable and the spot is always clean.

Overpriced and overcooked food. Pleasant but inattentive staff. Just visiting for the elephant seals in san Simeone.

Clam chowder is not supposed to be this thick. Fish and chips was ok. Kids grilled cheese was burnt. We will not be eating at this restaurant again. 💔

No wait to be seated @ 9 a.m. County Fried Steak was very good. Eggs & biscuit yummy. Mushy hashbrowns, soggy bacon.2 stars here because the service was sub par, at least by our waitress.No smiles or good morning offered. Forgot the coffee.When our food came, she left & never returned. She forgot our toast and we could absolutely not get her attention. Eventually we were able to get the attention of another watress whom got us some bread toasted.We had 5 in our party.Note that they add gratuity automatically @ 18%.Maybe this is why our server seemed to care less about her customer service?

Staff are amazing and the food is great. Best coffee and sourdough bread! We eat here every weekend and we have never had a bad experience.

Large menu full of tasty classic sounding items, including pot roast, chicken parmesan, steaks and fish and chips. Pricey, but large portions. Serves lunch until closing. Nice diner décor. We got the pot roast, the chicken mushroom pasta, and some sandwiches. The clam chowder is satisfyingly savory and tasty. Friendly, attentive service. All the food was decently tasty for the area.

Wayyyy over priced, we ordered dinner which was suppose to come with soup or salad. They brought out our food with out soup or salad and when we asked they said we didn't tell them we wanted either when we ordered. I ordered a glass of Riesling...they brought out cab and when I let her know I ordered Riesling she said no you asked for this...she was rude! When we asked for the manager the waitress who served us said it was her...will not go there again!

Good food for a fair price. Restaurant is close to all hotels in San Simeon. With each main course you get a salad or soup (chowder or soup of the day) to start with. The salad was very plain and still wet from washing, dressing was good. We had chicken and sand dabs served with rice, garlic bread and vegetables, it was good. We stayed at the Silver Surf Inn and got a 12% discount.

Bit of a disappointment, sub standard food with fairly high pricing. Would not recommend. There is hardly choice in the town though.

Ok food, ok service

I always get two eggs, hash browns, sausage and toast. For some reason, I switched it up and got the Eggs a la Mexicana. It was so good. It had everything I wanted plus a little dish of refried beans with chips. The plate was huge; I ate it all plus some of my wife's breakfast burrito. Yummy.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This is by far the most disgusting place to eat. I ordered bbq chicken and bbq ribs with mashed potatoes and veggies and the ribs were awful, dry and taste like they were made a few days ago, the chicken was a slice of breast that was boiled and put bbq sauce on it, mashed potatoes were flavor less, gravy was lumpy, veggies were hard and no flavor at all. I would definitely think twice about eating here.
